Clint Eastwood may direct the musical adaptation Jersey Boys Clint Eastwood may direct the musical adaptation Jersey BoysClint Eastwood has reportedly entered into early talks to direct the Jersey Boys remake for GK Films, a project which Jon Favreau was once attached to direct. It isn't known why Jon Favreau left the project.

Jersey Boys was picked up by Warner Bros. last year, but, just two months after picking it up, they put the project into turnaround in November. GK Films was in talks with both Fox and Paramount, but now that Clint Eastwood may sign on, the musical may be heading back to the director's home studio of Warner Bros. after all.

The director is moving on to this project because casting issues have delayed his proposed remake of A Star Is Born, which is also set up at Warner Bros. Esperanza Spalding is currently the top choice for the female lead, although they cannot seem to find a male lead, with several notable stars passing, including, most recently, Sean Penn. If Clint Eastwood does sign a deal for Jersey Boys, he will make that project next, with A Star Is Born following directly after.

Jersey Boys is based on the popular Broadway musical that chronicles the life of singer Frankie Valli and his group The Four Seasons. John Logan (Hugo) wrote the screenplay, based on the 2005 musical that took home four Tony Awards including Best Musical.

Jersey Boys comes to theaters in 2014.
